Colour Coded Number Plates For Taxis

RETIRED taxi operator Saiyed Fareed says the Land Transport Authority must introduce coloured number plates for taxis operating in various zones in major divisions around the country.

Mr Fareed reasoned this system would allow authorities, particularly the LTA, to monitor and easily detect taxis operating out of their permitted zones.

He said this should address the problem of illegal operation by taxi operators and or drivers.

“In Australia, taxis have a different coloured number plate to indicate the suburb their operate in. The same system should be introduced in Fiji so the LTA is able to identify which taxi is operating illegally in another zone,” Mr Fareed said.
